October 11th, 2008 james Posted in Training Comments Off

The Union has double booked the Excercise studio this monday and has kicked us out, we are therefore trying to organise a transport to another local club for training. In that light if anyone can drive a minibus or knows someone who can please contact Myself (James) or Omar asap via phone, text, e-mail, facebook, smoke signals etc…

Training Resuming? Website Updates.

May 18th, 2008 Rob Posted in Site News, Training Comments Off

First of all, as promised, a post about training. Exams are now finished (congratulations everyone that will be back next year, or not back next year in the case of final years). As long as we have enough people willing to attend and pay mat fees, we’d like to resume training on Thursday 22nd. We’ll be trying to get in touch with everyone to find out if we’ll have the numbers, as well as organising things with Nick and the Sports Centre, but feel free to get in touch with us first in case we can’t get hold of you in time.

If we do get the numbers, there will be some confirmation here. If there isn’t any confirmation on the website, there won’t be training.

Also, there may be some website oddities over the next week. Contracts are expiring and need renewing, and the committee will be handing over to the new committee for next year, so there will be some website changes to keep everything running smoothly, but the website may also disappear for a little while while the contracts are renewed. Hopefully we’ll keep any disappearance down to a couple of days, maximum.

Exam Training

April 25th, 2008 Rob Posted in Training Comments Off

There will be no training over the exam period, effective as of Monday 28th April (we will NOT be training on Monday).

The exam period ends around halfway through May, so training will resume then provided we get enough interest from members at the time. The exact date that training will resume will be posted here when we have it.

Training Resumed!

April 9th, 2008 Rob Posted in Training Comments Off

Due to popular demand, we’re going to resume training!

Be ready to train tomorrow (Thursday 10th). We’re still waiting for confirmation that we can begin training tomorrow, so check back here before you go anywhere - we don’t want everyone to turn up if we can’t get in.

As far as the members are concerned, training will be exactly the same as before, Monday and Thursday evenings.

Anyone that is able to train, please try to make it. Your attendance is required more than ever over the summer because the Union cuts our funding, and if nobody turns up then the club has no money to pay for things like a coach. This applies to students and non-students.

Please not that when we do resume training, we will again have to stop during the exam period - this is April 28th - May 16th, but more detailed information about exactly when training is running will be posted here nearer the time.

Spring / Summer training?

April 5th, 2008 Rob Posted in Training Comments Off

Some time ago, we asked if people wanted to continue training after training ‘officially’ stopped. We had very few people willing to, so the club stopped training last month.

However, apparently people didn’t understand the question, as club members have been trying to resume training. It might still be possible to do so as long as people can commit to actually attending - the Union won’t be funding us anymore, and we aren’t asking our coaches to coach for free, so we’ll be paying them with the money that attending members bring - this includes non-students. If nobody turns up, the coaches won’t be paid and the club will stop running again.

You have until Monday to let us know which training times are most convenient for you. They need to be after 6pm, and on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday. If you can’t make certain days but don’t let us know, don’t complain if training starts running on those days.

Final Training, AGM, BUSA Info

March 11th, 2008 Rob Posted in Competitions, Training Comments Off

First off, some sad news: Thursday 13th will be the last training session of the 2007/2008 academic year. Training will resume when you all return from the summer break a little wiser and a little less fit. This is earlier than we usually stop training, but it’s unavoidable - if you want to continue training there are plenty of clubs in the West London and surrounding areas. Either Google them or send an e-mail to Rob at the chairman address and he can point out the most suitable ones.

After this training session, please join us in Bar Zest. It’ll be a chance to say farewell to the club for the next 6 months, but more importantly, will be a “sort of AGM” and a chance to give out BUSA information. If you’ll be training here next year, especially if you’re a Brunel student, or if you’re attending BUSA with us this year, you should definitely attend.

The AGM part of the meeting will be spent discussing options for next year, including candidates for next year’s committee, and ideas for club development. It’s your chance to tell us what you think needs to change, and we know there are things worth changing. How should we spend all those mat fees we’ve been collecting?

The BUSA info will mainly be clearing up details for those that haven’t fought there before. If you can’t make it but are attending BUSA, again let Rob know and he can e-mail you some information. Basically, we’re leaving on Friday lunchtime and coming back on Sunday evening.

Injury :( (And pictures)

February 23rd, 2008 Rob Posted in Site News, Training Comments Off

Well Sean is fine. Out of training for a while, but he’s back at work.

Finally, those pictures that Rob was taking have made it onto the website. No apologies offered for the shocking quality of them, but they can now be found in the gallery. Some more pictures of some recent gradings should soon be finding their way into the gallery as well, so keep your eyes peeled.
