Just a warning to say that the bruneljudo.com e-mail isn’t currently working. It should be back up about halfway through July.

Thanks to a number of problems, you may have stumbled across the new Brunel Judo site before it’s finished. We are aware of the problems, and don’t be alarmed by anything that’s changing (or broken) - it’s just the new site being developed for the new committee.

First of all, as promised, a post about training. Exams are now finished (congratulations everyone that will be back next year, or not back next year in the case of final years). As long as we have enough people willing to attend and pay mat fees, we’d like to resume training on Thursday 22nd. We’ll be trying to get in touch with everyone to find out if we’ll have the numbers, as well as organising things with Nick and the Sports Centre, but feel free to get in touch with us first in case we can’t get hold of you in time.
If we do get the numbers, there will be some confirmation here. If there isn’t any confirmation on the website, there won’t be training.
Also, there may be some website oddities over the next week. Contracts are expiring and need renewing, and the committee will be handing over to the new committee for next year, so there will be some website changes to keep everything running smoothly, but the website may also disappear for a little while while the contracts are renewed. Hopefully we’ll keep any disappearance down to a couple of days, maximum.

Well Sean is fine. Out of training for a while, but he’s back at work.
Finally, those pictures that Rob was taking have made it onto the website. No apologies offered for the shocking quality of them, but they can now be found in the gallery. Some more pictures of some recent gradings should soon be finding their way into the gallery as well, so keep your eyes peeled.

The perceptive among you will have noticed that the forum has now disappeared. It hasn’t been used this year, so it’s been euthanised. This way the website is easier to manage for future committees. Any complaints can go through the usual channels ![]()

Not actually woo, but it doesn’t hurt to give things a bit of positive spin.
Training at Brunel Judo is now OVER until the next academic year begins in September, just after the Fresher’s Fayre.
Anyone that attends training will have received plenty of warning about this, and will also have been told about making alternative arrangements for training for the next 5 months.
We’ll be trying to gather a list of the other clubs in the western half of London. With any luck we’ll also be able to get some descriptions from club members who also train at those clubs, so you can see which clubs are worth travelling for dependant on your level of skill.
Over the ’summer’ period, there will be some changes to the club. The new committee will officially start performing their duties, the website will be undergoing some changes (more photos, videos, and other useful things), and the new club constitution will come into effect. This is essentially just the rules and code of conduct for training at the club, and it’s mostly just sensible stuff. The whole thing will be published on the website long before training resumes so you’ll have plenty of time to familiarise yourself with it. Biggest change - shoes or slippers must be worn when not on the mat to prevent any of the dirt or dust from the gym floor from being walked onto the mats, and then subsequently onto people’s faces.
You can expect the news to be a bit more sparse now that we aren’t training, but try to keep checking the site for any important announcements.
Have a good spring/summer!

Less than a week after we got back from BUSA (and after about 8 hours in terms of the webmaster’s free time..), the first batch of videos are up!
I won’t even go into the ins and outs of how much effort this has been to get them up this quickly (Eamonn..) - just go and watch them.
Click here for motion picture fun!
Please save them to your computer rather than watching them directly from the website - we’ll save bandwidth, and thusly money, that way.
Edit: All of the videos are now up, except for the ones on Danny’s videocamera, which we don’t have.

Photos from BUSA are now available in the gallery!
The videos are forthcoming. They take more time, and we need somewhere to put them, but that’ll all be sorted soon enough.

For those of you who STILL haven’t recovered from Christmas, here are the latest happenings from the club and the forum.
1) Training IS now running. Judging by Thursday’s turnout, a lot of you haven’t realised this. Excuses can be sent to the usual e-mail addresses, or posted on the forum.
2) Rob has (stupidly) posted a completely open request for website suggestions. That includes ANYTHING, no matter how impossible. Requests can be made here.
3) Club hoodies. Not much has happened with those recently, so the committee are stepping it up. Try and either contact one of us (or even better, attend training), or you might miss out. As usual, here’s the forum post.
4) New mats! Those of you who haven’t attended training for a while won’t know about our sexy new mats. What better reason to start attending? SHINY NEW ONES!
5) Signing a Get Well card for him would be hopeless, as it’s impossible to get the club in the same place at the same time, but it’s the thought that counts and we thought about it
Matt is out of training for a little while, if you want to see the (non-Judo related) explanation of why, you can do so here.
6) Same as 1). Get your arses back at training, and bring those friends you keep promising to bring (Jenny). What is it about Christmas that means people stop training for the next 6 months?
7) Various minor topics in the forum.
